Healing with CBD Massage

Getting a massage treatment is a great way to soothe stress, unwind and to treat pain or injury. Adding CBD to your massage can supercharge all of the benefits of massage therapy. Whether your goal is to simply find that tranquil Zen state, or to reduce pain or anxiety, try adding CBD to your next service.

WHAT IS CBD?

CBD, or cannabidiol, is gaining lots of attention in the world of health, and for good reason. The derivative of cannabis can be used in various forms, including CBD hemp oil that is used in conjunction with massage. It interacts with your body and the systems that regulate stress, sleep, appetite, pain, and more. This means that it has the ability to affect your health in many positive ways. Applied topically, as with massage, it offers a wealth of benefits without causing the “high” that some people want to do without.

CBD MASSAGE

By using CBD balms and oils during a massage, you can amplify all of the benefits you'd receive in a normal session, and more! Both CBD and massage have been shown to be effective for deep muscle and fascia release, treating injury and pain, skin wellness, and more.

PHYSICAL BENEFITS

CBD helps to alleviate inflammation, reduce pain, improve blood pressure, improve the health and appearance of skin, aid in muscle recovery, and much more. Massage therapy also offers many of these same effects, speeding up muscle recovery, reducing tension in fascia and soft tissue, reducing pain, relieving headaches, improving digestion, and improving overall quality of sleep. Put the two together for a supercharged healing session!

MENTAL HEALTH BENEFITS

Both CBD and massage are individually used to alleviate stress and reduce anxiety. Both are excellent ways to naturally improve your mental health, calm your mind, and banish the stresses you’re dealing with. Combining the two increases the effectiveness of each treatment and can help you relax your mind and body beyond what you can achieve on your own.

Common Questions about CBD Massage

Is CBD the same as marijuana?

It's not the same. CBD is derived from the hemp plant, not from its sister plant, marijuana. CBD does not contain the psychoactive chemical, THC. (Some extracts do contain trace amounts of THC which does not cause a "high.")

Will I get high with CBD massage?

No, CBD won't get you high! With that said, massage on its own can induce a deep state of relaxation, and CBD can intensify the effects. (That's what makes CBD massage so wonderful!) You might find that it takes a few minutes to "recover" once you get off the massage table, but drinking some water and stretching a bit can easily bring you back to full consciousness and awareness.

Will I test positive on a drug test?

It's extremely unlikely that topical application of CBD in a massage oil would trigger a positive drug test. Full spectrum CBD oil contains trace amounts of hemp-derived THC. If you were ingesting CBD regularly at recommended doses over a length of time, it's possible that enough THC could build up in your system to show positive. But THC is not well absorbed into the bloodstream via the skin, which means the amount of THC entering your system is much less than if you had ingested it.

If you're still concerned or prefer not to take chances, there's still another option! I can use an oil with CBD isolate, which is totally THC-free, so there's zero risk of a positive result. Full spectrum CBD is my preference, as it has not been chemically processed and contains many other beneficial cannabinoids that are removed in isolate preparation.

Should I ingest CBD prior to my massage?

I can't answer that for you! I am certainly an advocate for using CBD products, but I'm not qualified to make an actual recommendation for it. Taking a CBD-containing gummy or tincture beforehand would most likely enhance the experience of any massage, but you'll do so at your own risk.

But you have CBD products for sale. Doesn't this mean you're recommending it?

That means I'm making them available for adults to purchase for their personal use. As with any medication or product, you should understand the risks and benefits of CBD before taking it.
